Shahabuddin Ahmed was born in 1950 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He studied at the College of Arts and Crafts in Dhaka, where he distinguished himself as an exceptional student. Known for his paintings that symbolise the pain, power, joy, freedom of movement, and indomitable spirit of humanity in the face of adversity, Ahmed's work captures figures of monumental proportions. His heavy gestural brushstrokes and thick impasto create compositions that are unmistakably rhythmic and emphasise the power of motion.
