Debanjan Roy

Debanjan Roy, born in 1975, completed his Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts (Sculpture) at Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata. He earned his Master's in Visual Arts (Sculpture) from the same university in 2000. In 2016, he participated as an artist in residence at the Château De La Napoule in Nice, under the Asiatic Museum in Nice, France, in collaboration with Akar Prakar from India.

Some of his recent solo exhibitions include "Toying with Gandhi" at Akar Prakar in 2021 and 2019; "Metamorphosis," held at Akar Prakar in New Delhi and France in 2015; "Waste Side Story" at Akar Prakar in Kolkata in 2014; "The Altar of Convenience" at Aicon Gallery in New York in 2013; and "Looking for Bapu" at Akar Prakar in Ahmedabad and Kolkata in 2010.

Roy has participated in several group shows including Multitudes & Assemblages for Hub India at Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti, Turin, Italy, Sightings: Out of the wild, KNMA Noida in 2019, Seattle Art Museum, USA, Bangladesh Art Biennale, Dhaka in 2013, Vermont Studio Centre Residency Open Studio show, Johnson, USA, Enduring Legacy and Reprise Aicon Gallery, London.
